(Cape Girardeau) – The Cape West Rotary Club recently recognized KZIM-KSIM for its generosity in serving as the host station for the club’s annual radio auction since 1965.  Faune Riggin, the Program and News Director for KZIM-KSIM, accepted Cape West Rotary’s “Community Partner Award” on behalf of KZIM-KSIM.

“KZIM-KSIM has hosted our radio auction since 1965,” said Cape West Rotary Club president Tedd Powers.  “Over those years, we have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to put back into the community.  KZIM-KSIM has never asked for a single dime of the proceeds.  Without them, our radio auction would not be possible.”

Each year, Cape West Rotary selects a primary recipient for funds raised through the annual radio auction.  This year, the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri was the primary recipient.  Previous recipients include Melaina's Magical Playland, Mississippi Valley Therapeutic Horsemanship, and the Howard Aslinger Memorial Foundation.

“The motto of Rotary International is ‘Service Above Self,’” said radio auction committee chair Tim Bryant.  “Each year KZIM-KSIM demonstrates its commitment to service to our local community by offering air time for our auction.  Our club wanted to thank KZIM-KSIM for its past generosity, and we look forward to a continued partnership in the future.”

The Cape West Rotary Club was chartered in July 1966.  The club works to improve the community and world by volunteering time and resources to local and international causes.  Rotary International is an organization of business and professional leaders worldwide who provide humanitarian service and help build goodwill and peace in the world.  There are approximately 1.2 million Rotarians in more than 165 countries.
